Re: Not wanting to go back - is this common?
Well she went! Her Dad took her with his car full to the brim, at one point I wasn't sure we'd be able to get it back in. He popped around later that evening (we're divorced) to collect her shoes, towel, the forms I'd forgotton to fill in & return. It seems she was first back, she is in the same...

Re: Not wanting to go back - is this common?
she's upped the anti, we're onto attention seeking behaviour. The joys of parenting!!!!! I think she has no idea that going to school locally would be hard just in different ways ie lack of social life, having me nag her about homework, time wasted on commuting, lack of sport & hobbies etc etc e...

Re: Not wanting to go back - is this common?
Thanks for all your reassurances, it's good to know that it's "normal", hopefully next summer it won't be so bad. i don't think it helps that we haven't seen much of her over these holiday - she's been away for nearly 4 weeks of them, had her best friend here for 5 days plus lots Dad time ...

Not wanting to go back - is this common?
We've had real tears over it. Started off with "if you can't afford it I don't mind leaving" then onto "I don't want to go back". Is this fairly common? She's had a great summer, consolidated a lot of friendships at our church, she's realised the family dynamics have changed, she...

Re: Are we alone?
I think the only parents who can afford to send their children to CH are the ones who have a low mortgage - one that is less than 20% of their gross income. We now have a 32 year mortgage on our (very modest & overcrowded) home to get the monthly payments down to about 15%, I'm very fortunate th...

Re: Prep School, 1 year at state secondary or tutoring ?
when I read through threads like this I am very grateful that my 3 youngest children are pretty much academically average, the stress of 1 needing to do to CH was hard enough! I can't imagine the complexities of accelerated learning etc etc. Surrey LEA point blank refuses to let children be educated...

Re: Anyone wanting Kukri sports kit let me know!!!
One crazy part of me wants to offer to be the school's contact for sports gear but the overriding & sensible part says it could be a very time consuming job so I'll just keep that thought to myself!!!!!!

Anyone wanting Kukri sports kit let me know!!!
I have spoken to someone at Kukri or whatever they are called. There are no plans to reopen the on line shop as they are not meeting with the school until September :axe: :axe: :axe: However they only require as a minimum an order of 10 of an item to produce them, so for example 10 tracksuit tops, 1...

Re: Scout Camp....
actually my post wasn't about the mud on her more the clothes she took. Despite my previous 10001 lectures about not taking her expensive **at one time** white sweatshirt with her she did!!!! I'm now about to try and order her a new school tracksuit having managed to seriously outgrow her old one in...

Re: Are we alone?
Dusty that is a lovely post, I'm glad you got reaquainted and were able to pass on the CH info to someone who will benefit. As for maintenance money, one of the reasons why CH fees "work" for us is that the maintenance we receive is very very variable and when it's high we pay a big chunk ...
