Re: Petition to

The French government wanted it then and wants it now. The French people voted against it then and would probably do the same now g...

Re: Mediums/Spiritualists - "for entertainment only"??
The operative word is TRADER. Fortune tellers, mediums etc charge for their services and there is evidence that some of them exploit vulnerable, recently bereaved people. Churches do not charge for their services. There maybe a voluntary collection which you can contribute to if you wish but there ...

Re: ALT+ for accents
I'm being thick, but I don't understand Option in this context. At the moment I am using a PowerBook G4 will I have to find the instructions? Option is the key to the left of the left Apple key on most Apple keyboards. It's usually labelled with the word 'option' or the symbol '⌥'. You may also h...

The site is well worth a visit, if you haven't already. Haven't looked yet but is it any good for Mac users? We have both PC & AppleMac laptop in the house. Mac users have it much easier. Option-E for acute. Option-backtick (to the left of 1) for grave. Option-I for circumflex. Option-U for uml...

Re: Can you enter the US with a passport that...
Just saw this topic. You'll be fine with a 2004 passport so long as it's machine-readable. The vast majority of British passports are. As Jo pointed out, there's a small fee ($6, last time I looked) for using the Visa Waiver Program at a land border. It's payable in American currency. I believe you ...

Re: If I were PM...
So, we have cut the Civil Service by 80 percent which reduces the necessary tax bill. We have cut 30 - 40% of NHS staff (but no patient-facing person) and we have streamlined every branch of all levels of government. None of your proposals actually does that. Some of them would do the exact opposit...

I had a booklet of rules in the early 90s. I think it was separate from the calendar, but I can't be wholly sure. It must have been free; I'd remember objecting otherwise. It did prohibit 'sexual intercourse, the penalty for which is expulsion'. On a slight tangent, in the aftermath of some sex scan...

Morality/fair-play comes in here somewhere - if we want musicians/artists to continue to make a living from what they do (and hence continue doing it) then we have to accept that we as individuals must pay something to help support them. Human creativity existed long before copyright. It's a myth t...

Re: Statistical Curiosity......
Given that there are many Old Blues NOT registered or posting on the forum, how weird is it that there appear to be no fewer than 3 posters who once held the House number Barnes B 25? Less weird than you might imagine. :) It's a similar situation to the well known 'birthday paradox': http://en.wiki...

When I set it up, I hoped that it would begin to bridge the gap between Blues and Old Blues, primarily through the life/career support and advice. It's actually turned into a lot more than that in many ways, although I still can't fathom why the careers/support/advice side has never really taken of...

Re: Computer Network problem
The host computer is set up for internet sharing and there is a gateway on the client that opens when the host connects to the internet. The host can ping the client IP. The client can ping the gateway on the host (192.168.0.1) and also the IP for the modem (which varies).... BUT (and I am tearing ...
