Re: Just stumbled upon this site.......sounds like fun...

Just read through this thread ( skimmed) and have a few corrections to add... Munch, the Sylvester and the Morgan Twins were not the only twins in your time, but the only identical twins. You can't possibly forget the Bonfanti twins who were both delightful but totally and utterly unalike. Susan has...

Phew...Great to hear from you Caroline

Despite studying A Level with efficient Miss Wilson, I was a little confused on The News by the Geography of the fire zone.

Yes Munch, she did keep the neat jar of coloured pencils ( always well-sharpened ) for our maps.

Re: Chemi - T and Miss Mercer

Thanks for your editing Jo. :D My Old Blue arrived today and I read Miss Mercer's obituary. Apparently she had no formal training as a teacher...but IMO she was a natural. Chemi.T. was amazing too. Her experiments, explosions and "fireworks displays" in the lab. were huge fun but I suppose ...

Re: Chemi - T and Miss Mercer

Hi Jo, I didn't notice a latest copy of the Old Blue....what date was it....any idea how I can get one....the last one I have is a year ago. Sorry to hear about Miss Mercer...my favourite C.H. teacher by a long, long way... ( I didn't really notice that, apparently, she taught us the "wrong&quo...

Thankyou Kerren and warm thoughts to you. Trust me to remember the dog but not the Steward ! Did Miss Gamble look after Piper sometimes ? I have some kind of recollection of Piper with Miss Gamble. btw Kerren...spoke recently to Jacquie Tomlinson ( 3s ) who thanks you and was pleased to receive a co...

Re:cobblers

Dying to crack a joke about Midge's Rev's sermons ( taking into account the pronunciation of his name )... Rev. Walker the Younger was well-meaning but terminally uninspiring....his sermons were recycled in a two-yearly rota so after hearing the first few words you could safely nod-off knowing that ...

Hoping "icomefromthelanddownunder" is ok

...and thinking of you Caroline with all the reports coming out of Aus. Just a couple of quick additions to this thread : Sunday coffee: this suddenly started a couple of years after me ( around '67/'68 ). It was very milky and stewed and quite delicious. I don't think it was "Camp" but pr...

Re: Interesting or funny links

Hi Mary,

I certainly do remember Miss Mercer's Logic lessons. I've forgotten what those little triplets were called ..some of them were tautologies ?? After the whole class got grade A for logic at "O" level didn't you continue on and do A level ? I tried but it was too hard.

Well done John ! I did wonder if you would spot your sister . I had forgotten that she was rather sporty and an excellent runner... and of course she passed all her exams with...EXTINCTION :D P.S. Tell Josephine that Pamela Jones ( now Greene - Sixes 1965-70) emailed me the pic. She came to the firs...

Re: Hertford Museum : Follow up visit 2 August

Hi Everybody, I've finally got round to uploading my Hertford Museum photos. They are not very wondrous as I was far more interested in being there and chatting to everyone than taking pics. Many thanks to Mary Lynch,Kerren and Sarah for all their kindness that weekend and I will try to get in touch...

Re: A Girl's School from the Outside

This is quite a lovely thread ( thanks to lonely wolf and all contributors). Sophie Stone's older sister (and I agree with the earlier date of 1968) was Julie ,and my friend ( as was lovely Shelagh Regester who was also in Fours...both of them were a year below me ). Were either Julie or Sophie R.A....

Re: The School Rules

Hi Everybody ! Just a quick addition to the School Rules thread... I think that Miss Norman ( Nellie) issued some separate " All Out " rules which Lesley Bonham ( 8s /1965-72 ?) annotated and read out in a near perfect Normanesque style. One of the rules was Balls must not be thrown in the...

Hi Everyone and love to all, Sorry I haven't posted much lately but really am very busy. Just wanna say how lovely that weekend in Hertford was xxx and if Kerren's reading , I'm going to try and make 2nd August. What a joy to read Munch's hilarious and oh so accurate memoirs ! Please write that book...
