Re: Sad news
It is entirely understandable to wonder how and why but as Mrs C says the school have no control over that piece of land.It would be of no help at all to start apportioning blame. Any of our children could leave our homes in the holidays and go for a run and be knocked down by a car .The only thing ...

Re: I can understand
CHdad-the school did trial emailing everything a while back but it was hopeless. You can't read emails of such great length as comfortably as you can read a hard copy, we had to print them off which wasn't always convenient and also there were often bits missing so you ended up with loads of disconne...

Re: Uniform
My 'young people' tell me that the fashion for young men to wear their trousers so low that you can see there undergarments comes from American prisons. The belts which hold up the men's trousers are removed for obvious reasons and so their trousers fall down and therefore their pants are exposed.Th...

Re: Initial assessment
They usually tell you on the day of the assessment how long it will take to get the results but I think it was about three weeks for the first one.Could be wrong -maybe lonelymom will remember as she has been through it twice !

Re: Latin is a language
'Latin is a language'. That's the key. It's how we connect with poeple whether the langauge is dead or alive. My eldest daughter is in the Grecians and applying to universities to study Classics after having been convinced for years that she would study law. When I asked her why she had changed her ...

Not so unusual. My eldest rings every day because she needs to and we enjoy it.

Re: The next stage
Oh dear. Try not to think of it like that ,though that's easier said that done! My eldest once said to me 'Thanks for not making it hard for me to go away'. I think she meant-bless her- that she knew why she was at the school and she knew I missed her but we didn't dwell on it because we had made th...

Re: Pre-IB students
Thanks Yadayada.Interesting that,at Cambridge every interviewer mentioned her exam results. At Oxford so far , no one has. She has found the Oxford interviews ,so far, more outside her experience .

Re: Pre-IB students
Thanks Mrs C. It really gets on my tonkers when students are undermined by constant references to whether this or that exam is easier or more difficult. The pupils can only do what they can with the exams they are given. The constant drivel about exams in the media is enough to send any pupil mad.If...

Re: Pre-IB students
I wasn't aware that aware that Oxford and Cambridge had given up on A levels. I wish I had told my daughter before she set off for both this week only armed with four A grade AS levels .Oh dear. What will she do now that all is lost and no one thinks anything of her efforts to pass such weedy exams.O...

Re: Pre-IB students
There has been no official confirmation that the school will be offering IB to pupils unless I have missed it. Dr Wines is in charge of this course according to the listings in the school diary. I understand that he is supervising the German Pre IB students. That's all anyone knows.
