Re: January Residential Assessment

For the record, my DS was so desperate to go to CH that he got up half an hour early each morning for a month to do practice papers. Just to dispel the myth that we put our "poor" children through anything! It was his choice to apply, his choice to take the exams and his choice to do the p...

Re: Swine flu - school closing for a week

Excellent news about Louise - slow and steady wins the race.... (and don't forget chocolate - I am a great believer in it's restorative properties!) I do think our bodies take quite a while to recover and her little one has been thro a lot. The stomach pains may just be a "take it easy" si...

Re: Swine flu - school closing for a week

Well - I've only had to do 5 days of nursing a sick child but I've already had enough! Don't know how you managed 2 weeks plus, Lonelymom! From that moan you may take it that my DS is on the mend. It all got a bit scary for a while as I had real difficulty keeping his temperature under 39 degrees an...

Re: End of term packing

I should say that for the Xmas term you don't necessarily have to take everyhting home as they don't let out the rooms over that holiday (not in our house this term, anyway) but as already pointed out, room cahnges might make it a bit difficult. However, in general houseparents are helpful & no ...

Re: Swine flu - school closing for a week

Brilliant, brilliant news, Michelle - you must all be so relieved.... I'm so pleased. Not been here for a bit for various reasons, not least of which is that I got back a little while ago from CH having picked up my son from the Health Centre. He was admitted yesterday with a very high temperature a...

Re: End of term packing

Hi Jade - Yes, I was a bit astonished too tho at least it provides a way to keep track of stuff - if I didn't get the chance to audit everyhting three times a year I'm sure most of it would be wrecked/lost! Could you try to find a nearby parent/family with whom you could share a lift in return for a...

Re: New Official CH Parents Forum

Well anyway... (I've tried three times to post "Back to Topic" & failed - not sure why...) Have looked at the "Official" forum guidelines and there are a number of terms and conditions I find disquieting or downright strange... "Members will refrain from any defamation t...

Re: Swine flu - school closing for a week

Have added them both to the private prayer list at my local church. I'm glad to hear that things seem to be going in the right direction. You're right about this being a community - M. and others have seen me through some difficult times in the past; tho it was nothing near as bad as this, people's ...

Re: Swine flu - school closing for a week

Very glad to hear Lonelymom's news about youngest DD, not so good about Mumto2; hope she comes through it quickly... My DS has absolutely no symptoms tho was exposed way back when his older sister had it in the first "bulge"(or did she??? - who knows??). He is currently out on a long bike ...

Re: Swine flu - school closing for a week

Letter from HM on website says that those who are "too sick to travel" will be able to stay in the health centre until they are better.
