Re: INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS AND VAT
At CH once, we had some rather suspiciously sweet burgers, c. 1980-1981, and I recall wondering if they might have been made from horse meat, which I understood to be 'sweeter' than beef. I suppose that now I'll never neigh, er.. know. Is that what prompted your forum name, Mr Ed? https://imgix.ran...

Re: Why does Eton make headlines....?
I once saw a splendid Eton-related put-down. It was a BBC Question Time, with Dimblebore as chairman and Rees-Mogg as one of the panelists. The subject of Eton was being discussed and Dimblebore made a very disparaging comment on the school and parents who were well-off sending their children there...

Re: Here's a hypothetical
What did McCall actually do here? A clumsy pass by an older man on another man. McCall could very reasonably claim that yes, he made a pass but stopped as soon as he realised that his attentions were not well received. I think you'll find it was a similar "clumsy pass" on a male pupil tha...

Was he still at CH then?
Yes, he taught me maths on my 3rd form which was 93-84

Re: Photograph of Ernest Richard McCall
Go to the whole school photo of 1990 and look for the nurses. I think he is sat just in front of them and slightly to the right. Black gown, grey suit, red tie. IF anyone thinks that isn't him please say so as my memory is hazy and I'd rather avoid a case of mistaken identity! https://www.chforum.in...

*MODS: I'm only posting this here as the trial thread is locked so please do move to that thread if ok. I have some questions regarding the current trial of Roger Martin at Hove (which I hope are ok) if anyone is able to answer please: The current trial has not been reported at all in the press. Doe...

Re: The Fionna Bruce Show.
Firstly JR, it's Fiona. Not Fionna. How dare you sully her name.
Secondly, no no no. Just plain wrong.

How did the the Grecians' Club, which presumably had a licence, get away with serving alcohol to under-age drinkers? Special licence from the council. I heard rumours there was a masonic connection with someone at the council. No idea if true or not. I don't know what to believe anymore to be honest!

Re: Alcohol
Ergo; don't assume the word alcohol was directly related to grooming at CH. Any arguments on either side? I quite agree. Alcohol, it appears, was just one of many tools used by abusers but as you (rightly in my opinion) argue, not all dishing out of alcohol by masters to pupils is wrong. I'd go so ...
