Re: OB out of House of Commons

Wow, bad times. However delighted to hear that CH produced a Labour MP. Seems that most OB's end up as Tories...

Re: The Forthcoming General Election

Interesting night eh? No overall majority - the "Cleggmania" has resulted in the Lib Dems losing seats - hell, some of them were gained by Labour, and the Tories not getting the majority they needed. I understand that due to Lib Dem party rules the members vote on going into coalition. So ...

Re: The Forthcoming General Election

we just got a direct mail from the lib dem candidate. he is the only candidate who is a city councillor - a council which is making at least 3,000 people redundant in the next 12 months alone - and he is basically negatively campaigning against the other candidates. what he fails to mention is that ...

Re: The Forthcoming General Election

senti - depends which quangos you get rid of - some are good such as the HCA - partic. in deprived areas - others not so good. also that thing where you compare your likes and dislikes with party leaders - rubbish - i have the same music taste as mr cameron. does not make me tory though. BBC need to...

Re: The Forthcoming General Election

question - did anyone here vote whilst at CH? I missed the 2001 election by a few months - turned 18 in sept 01, don't recall anyone voting then but there is a polling station at CH right? Or did people have to vote by post/be shipped off to the nearest polling station?

Re: Leavers and fees

I'd love to give money back to CH but having just graduated, in a low paying job with thousands of debt - it really isn't affordable - even £5 a month sadly. But when I do have the money, I'll be donating to CH rather than my old university....

Re: Deputy Grecian 2010

Ah I remember the boarding wobbles when I was a new dep, it's totally worth it - but she's gotta keep in her mind that she's going to be so much more ahead of people socially etc when she gets to uni cos she'll have had the fab experience of boarding. people do make you feel welcome and you're kept ...

Re: Volcanoes?

Yeah, but apparently they are going to sue the EU over their "ridiculous" laws. Profit over safety, clearly.

Re: Volcanoes?

Fingers crossed that everyone can make it for the christening! yeah I heard about that other volcano too - am wondering if it is worth booking flights this summer and relying on Eurostar instead?! Not good considering where I want to go though. There will also be lots of kids not making it into scho...

Re: Volcanoes?

Yeah - I was lucky I think. Was meant to be flying with Continental who are a US airline so not sure if they are obliged to? But their call centre staff were really helpful, we tried to reschedule the flights but because there was such as short timescale for me going there was nothing to be booked o...

Volcanoes?

Unless I have missed something - v surprised there hasn't been a topic on the current no fly zone and the volcano eruption! Anyone else been affected by this? I am meant to be in New York right now - flight was due to leave Birmingham yesterday morning, but everything was cancelled. They tried to re...
