Re: What Doesn't Happen At CH These Days?

What does this mean, the changing rooms were never really used again, and i don't think even exist anymore ? Pupils now change in their bedrooms and use the usual bathrooms after sport (not good when they return covered in wet mud from rugby). In Peele, Lamb, Maine and Leigh Hunt there are now staf...

Re: What Doesn't Happen At CH These Days?

Rock-hard Buttermilk Soap (always useful for playing hockey with in the old lav ends) has now been replaced with Hand Sanitizing Foam in wall-mounted dispensers. Some boys, on seeing that there was an alcohol content to the foam, tried unsuccessfully to set fire to a dispenser!

Re: New sports kit list

Apparently the Kukri On-line Shop should be opening again sometime next week. No sure how long it will remain open but expect a delivery date of 8 weeks from then.

Re: New sports kit list

Thank you for letting me know that there will be a further opportunity for parents to order the new Kukri sports kit. The information on the school website does not make that clear and I was worried that we had missed the boat. I too am in favour of any help and sponsorship that CH can obtain and I...

Re: New sports kit list

As far as I am aware, Kukri will re-open their on-line shop when CH asks them to do so. Orders are then taken over a set period for delivery 8 weeks later. This is not ideal as often pupils lose something mid-term or suddenly have a growth spurt and need replacement items ASAP. These issues really n...

Re: Helpful Tips for New Parents please!!!

When I took my daughter back on Sunday I noticed her bedsheet had her house initials written on it in the corner in very large black letters. I knew I hadn't done it, so I thought she had the wrong sheet, but she said that their sheets are marked like that now because it makes it easier for the lau...

Re: Helpful Tips for New Parents please!!!

I intend to follow this up over the coming months as it does not make any sense for parents to buy whites which are then not needed. The second form boys play indoor cricket in the Lent Term (without wearing whites)and I imagine that this determines who is selected for the A/ B squad for the Summer ...

Re: Helpful Tips for New Parents please!!!

The biggest waste of money is cricket whites. . :D I believe that the school needs to alter the the wording for the cricket kit on the standard clothing list that it sends out (it even confused me this year as there were not any crested cricket shirts being sold by Broadbridges!) but unfortunately ...

Re: Repeal major detrimental changes at Christ's Hospital

The term "Bed Rest" has gone, but pupils can be "Ill in House" if not well enough to attend lessons yet do not require admission to the Health Centre.

Re: Helpful Tips for New Parents please!!!

In my experience, the more clothes they bring, the messier their rooms become, which results in trouble for them! Items can always be swapped over at Leave Weekends or half-terms if they feel the need to ring the changes. "Civvies" are sent to the laundry each Weds and usually return to Ho...

Re: Do parents know about this forum?

following a discussion at school about what information parents might want to have available on the school website (which is currently being reviewed for an update). So do you think there's a chance there might be a link to this forum from the school website when it is updated? I don't think so but...

Re: Helpful Tips for New Parents please!!!

Sports every day? I think this might make him think twice about wanting to go. The list of extra curricular activities includes lots of non sporting activities - we assumed he could pick one of these. All Second Form boys play football and rugby in the first 2 terms. Non-swimmers have extra swimmin...

I only joined recently, although I had known of its existence for years, following a discussion at school about what information parents might want to have available on the school website (which is currently being reviewed for an update). When I read some of the posts I felt compelled to take part, ...
