Extreme Cello Playing
OK, I've not posted on here for some time, so I apologise if this comes slightly out of the blue (as it were!), but I thought that some of you may be interested in this. I play as part of a cello trio ("The Extreme Cellists") that plays in unusual places to raise money for charity. We form...

Is CH using immigrant labour these days? In the G.O.D. all we had to cope with was a broad Sussex accent, eminently speakable and understandable. When I was there many of the bockers seemed to come from Newcastle or Liverpool... not quite the level of immigration you are thinking of, I'm sure, but ...

Vibrato should NEVER be used by the amateur, but almost invariably is. Although I'm often in favour of vibrato (within limits), I'm in total agreement with you here. There is a major difference between vibrato which is done by people either because cannot sing without it, or simply they think that ...

Re: bockers

I have absolutely no idea where the word originated, and so don't know whether it is (or was supposed to be) derogatory, but was certainly in common usage amongst pupils when I was ...

By the way, the dorms had not changed in the '70s - the two radiators had the same effect as heating a cathedral with a hairdryer, although we had been upgraded to 2 school blankets (ooooh, luxury!). They weren't up to much in the late eighties/early nineties, either. We had a single hot water pipe...

"Squit" definition
According to the Concise Oxford Dictionary...
squit n. small or insignificant person.
Seems about right to me. I remember having this definition pointed out to me when I was a squit (sorry, "second form"), and finding it highly amusing. Certainly no damage done there!
