Can't say I remember the police cadets between '72 and '78. I was in the "Signals" which was run by DJO'M at the time.

Choir trip to Chartres

The arrival of JDS on this forum has reminded me of some of my choir exploits whilst at CH. Is there anyone else out there that was on the choir trip / Chichester diocesan pilgramage to Chartres Cathedral ? It must have been around 1975 (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). A coach load of selec...

Re: Rock School

I also have a phot somewhere of his solo performance in 'All the King's Men' - a children's opera which we performed outside the Theatre in 2003 Hello John, I don't suppose you have a photo of me as one of the "king's fine generals" in the original (1973/4 ?) production in Big School ? On...

Ah yes, it's coming back now - initials D.E. if my memory serves me correctly. Better not give his name on the forum but he may have been related to a certain family in Dallas.

Spoonbill Doesn't ring all bells to me. Are you sure it was during my time ? Maybe JamesF35 would be able to assist [i'm not suggesting of course that he was the culprit]. :( Cant't remember his name but he was a few years below us. If I'm thinking of the right person, he also put pictures of abort...

Isn't "Life Skills" something to do with learning how to get a round in at the pub ? Well, I can conirm there most certainly were plenty of opportunities for picking up that skill in the 70s as I am sure Richard would also confirm ? (What was the name of that pub at Dragons Green with the ...

Spoonbill, I am intrigued, is your intention purely to be controversial in order to stimulate an animated debate within this thread or do you really believe everything you say ? I am particularly puzzled that you say - and I quote: "I really wish there weren't quite so many people on the loose ...

Like most things in life, spoonbill, the more you put into something, the more you get out of it. I too was at CH in the seventies and I must say that my recollections are very different from yours. Languages: yes, I admit that Spanish wasn't one of the language options available to us but you could...

Oh yes I remember the crane flies. One particular occassion comes to mind . . . We were in the middle of a chemistry lesson with Mr. Matthews (renowned for his chain smoking habit - he used to keep the bunsen burner going on his desk throughout the lesson so he could keep on lighting ciggies - also ...

Ah, so Julian works for RM. You'll know all about Tesco Computer for Schools then ? (RM are the suppliers of equipment to Tesco for this scheme). In that case, what about launching an appeal to all OBs to collect and send their Tesco Computer Vouchers in to a central office ? If a good proportion of...

Interactive whiteboards are fantastic bits of equipment if you buy the right ones. I guarantee that anyone who sees one properly demonstrated will fall in love with the concept immediately. I'm surprised it has taken CH this long to catch on to this technology. Assuming they will be buying in bulk, ...

RECIPE FOR MIMTE FRITTERS (AS SERVED AT CH) Take sliced Mothers Pride style bread (nearest equivalent today is probably Tesco Value sliced bread). My wife tolerates me talking fondly about CH but she does seem to draw the line when one of my best ex CH friends comes to stay and we start to sing "unum contentum solite . . . ." after a couple of bottles of wine.

In my time in MidA I remember everyone being very proud of the Drum Major tradition - even those, like me, who really wouldn't have known how to even hold the mace. There was one time when there was an exception to this rule with a Drum Major from LB. In my time (around 1976 I reckon) we had a drum ...
