Re: I S I Report 2013
Foureyes Such a comment is most unworthy. There are many staff, both teaching and non-teaching, who have put their heart and souls into the task of putting things right from the last report and worked tirelessly to see a marked improvement in our standing. Under the new guidelines "excellent&qu...

Re: Congratulations To Joe Launchbury
Richard is totally spot on with that researched information.
Funny to think that in c 1998 Peter southern declared an "Elijah Sobanjo" day when Elijah was selected for England Schools. I wonder what might follow Joe's elevation?

Re: Congratulations To Joe Launchbury
We have been scratching through archives today and it appears that Joe might be the first Old Blue for c 111 years to gain a cap (if it happens!)

Re: Congratulations To Joe Launchbury
Now that he is in final 23 for the game against Fiji we are all hoping that the game goes well and that he will rise from the bench in the second half to become the first CH boy to gain a full England cap ... unless anyone can correct me.......

Methinks you have misinterpreted my drift.
Disembarking from 20+ coaches is not going to be the easiest of exercises. Perhaps the police were keen that there should not be hundreds of "wellwishers" in addition clogging up the pavements,

Re: St Matthews Day Parade
Yes to the first question, but the pre-Cathedral march and the drop-off are both closely guarded at the request of the police. Sorry.

Re: St Matthews Day Parade
The "march" to the cathedral is indeed very brief (no more than 5 minutes) and is happening VERY early. In my opinion it would not be worth watching. The march from St Paul's will commence at approx. 11.45 and will last for 15 minutes or so. That is the opportunity that I would choose were...

Even further sad news
It is with regret that I have to inform the board of the passing of Harry Spurrier, former Housemaster of Middleton B and Second Master, in Horsham at the end of July. He was 87. The funeral has taken place. It might be the family's wishes for a memorial service to take place at some later stage. I ...

Re: TV/ Old Blue
Yes I saw that too, Andrew. Went off to do a little research on him. Do you remember his predeliction for oriental art? Also I read somewhere that another contemporary, Steven Connor, is moving from his role as Profess0r of Modern Literature and Theory at Birkbeck where he has taught since 1979 to t...

Re: Beating retreat, end of term.
David's response and Frances's responses highlight all that is wrong with "tradition".
Both make salient points which need to be recognised. They defeat utterly Mid A 55's 1.08am offering.

Re: Beating retreat, end of term.
Such passion, Andy, over something so pointless ill becomes you. Traditionally Coleridge was a boys block until 1985. Traditionally young students/pupils had to wipe tables. Traditionally Grecians used to be the only pupils allowed to walk on the Grecians path until 2001. Times change, things change...
