Yes and yes. Sadly, she was not known to me in the Biblical sense

MAIDS

Don't know when the Spanish maids arrived. I remember Irish girls; the Eithne springs to mind. One afternoon about six of them leant out of their accommodation windows above the kitchens and brought a game of Asphalt Cricket to a complete standstill. They were reputed to swim in the pool at midnight...

MODEL LOCOMOTIVE

Just as a matter of interest, I have a model of the "Christ's Hospital" locomotive which was produced by a company called TMC about five years ago. It was basically the Hornby OO-gauge "Schools-class" model (as in the e-bay sale) but was then painted, named and numbered by TMC according to the buyer...

DAILY TELEGRAPH THURSDAY 5 APRIL

On page 27 of yesterday's Daily Telegraph a letter to the editor concerning the National Lottery is accompanied by an engraving depicting the draw at the state lottery in 1751. Hawkeyed Old Blues will spot that at either end of the table is a boy wearing a long blue coat, breeches, yellow stockings ...

BARCLAY

May I join the tributes to Barclay? His life was devoted to a perceived debt to Housie, which was, in fact, repaid many times over. His recent book on memories of Housie was typical of the man - idiosyncratic, but covering a wide field, full of information and fun - all-in-all, what the critics refe...

OLD BLUES DAY

Further to the above, I have now looked again at the Registration Form. It asks for the person's name, but only insofar as that concerns payment by credit card. There is no request for the applicant's full name, house/s and dates at Housie, so it is not possible to crosscheck that the applicant actu...

OLD BLUES DAY

Having had some experience of "security" may I comment? This business of pre-registration will only be as successful as the on-site arrangements allow it to be. Thus, if it really is to work all accesses to the school will have to be blocked except one or perhaps two which are then manned throughout...

LAMB B 1953(?)

(Click on the image for larger version) http://www.chforum.info/pictures/LambB1953DMillerSmall.jpg Just discovered this in my attic. I believe it to have been taken in 1953, but could be out by a year either way. The House Captain is Ian Pitter, which should enable someone to be more precise. Unfort...

Many thanks for that - just "Google" it. A very good clip - real "Blue Peter" stuff, but with a few more laughs - in fact, a lot more laughs!
