OK, as richardb has now contribted to this thread it's time forme to confess before he spills the beans anyway . . . We ran a porn mag library from our study during the Lent Term of our final year. It was very simple, we acquired the goods (often gifted to us by others who didn't want to get caught ...

Thats a very good point James. Going by age, you were two years ahead of me. Did you ever volunteer for the Dr Hoskins flu jabs? Oh yes, only once, in my first term - and I got flu bad ! I ended up in the sicker for an extra two days after the end of term. I was well pleased as you might imagine. I...

The "sicker"

I've been reading through the CH website and notice it refers to a "Health Centre" which has five beds for ill people. Is the "health centre" the same building as the Infirmiry in my days ? If so, why only five beds - there used to be around ten cubicles and two wards on the uppe...

I went on a choir trip the Chartres and a CCF trip to Berlin both of which were great experiences where much of the time focussed upon consuming large amounts of booze.

There are two things you need to sell your house - the first is to market it at the right price and the second is to have a good estate agent who will work hard to sell it for you. As far as the price is concerned, you need to make it clear to the agents you ask to value your house, that you want to...

It was always a really difficuly choice . . . stay and do some work in second prep - or go to the club for three halves (what do you mean - no of course we always stuck the the three halves limit ~ cough cough cough). Around 12p per half pint I seem to remember in our days. So if the club doesn't op...

I can still hear his voice now but I have trouble placing his accent. Was he from Lancashire? DC He was from Liverpool. I wonder if the dog you are all talking about is the same Jack Russell pup that always tried to bite my ankles when I used to visit him and his wife in their flat, circa 1974. I t...

Being leader of the Chapel Choir was, to me, a great honour. I also had singing lessons with an old boy who was very good (can't remember his name now), sight reading lessons with Malcolm MacKelvy and Theory with Malcolm's second wife. After leaving CH I joined the Elizabthan Singers in London for a...

Very sad. My memories of A-Level maths lessons with him still make me laugh today. He was unique ! I spent a number of evenings in the pub with him during "Signals" camps. On a CCF trip to Germany he pulled rank on the regular 2nd Lt. assigned to us sending him to sit in the back of the tr...

I remember getting into the Tower without paying. There was a small group of us and we walked down from 26 Gt Tower Street just to see if we could get in. I can't remember what we were doing at 26 GTS - probably some sort of choir jolly.

I recognised the Prep Block from the camera shots, although it didn't have that fire escape staircase in our day. That answers my puzzlement about the dorms though. I'm surprised they didn't use the hall for rehearsal shots rather than the Octagon (bad memories of deps divinity with grolly in there)...
