CHA News – December 2006

Welcome to the first official CHA email newsletter, keeping you in touch with all the latest news from the CHA, your fellow Old Blues and the School.

CHA Carol Concert
Wednesday 13th December, 6.00pm St Sepulchre without Newgate, London.

If you haven’t got your tickets already, place your order today for the hottest show in town! Your chance to enjoy some classic Christmas carols performed by an Old Blue scratch choir, join in with your favourite songs and listen to specially chosen festive readings. Order your tickets today by visiting the CHA website at http://www.chassociation.org/events/car ... rt2006.php or call the CHA Office to reserve your place. There is still room to squeeze one or two more into the choir or the brass band, so if you want to volunteer, get yourself a ticket and drop us a line so we know who to expect at the rehearsal.
Tickets cost £5.00 and £2.50 for children, and include mulled wine and mince pies after the concert.

Young (and Young at Heart) Old Blues will be interested to know that the revelry will continue following the concert at the Bishop’s Finger pub just around the corner from St Sepulchre’s. This will give you more chance to catch up with old friends, reward the outstanding choristers and enjoy the Christmas spirit. You can find a map to the pub at: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x ... 9&z=0&ar=Y but there will be signage and guidance following the concert. All are welcome, so drop us a line at the CHA Office if you want to know more.

The Old Blue
The autumn edition of the Old Blue is now available online via the CHA website at: http://www.chassociation.org/news/oldblueaugust06.pdf . If you did not receive a copy of this issue, it is because you have requested no mail from us or we do not have your up to date address. Contact the CHA to update your details and receive your personal copy of the Old Blue.
Don’t forget that the deadline for submissions to the next edition of The Old Blue is this Friday 8th December. Send all submissions to obeditor@chassociation.org or post them to the Editor at the CHA Office.

Dates for your diary…
Coming up in 2007, a House Reunion for Coleridge A and Coleridge B, an event recognising the achievement of Old Blues in the military, a 30 Years On reunion and the biggest date in the CHA Calendar – Old Blues Day.
Sunday 17th June 2007 is the date for the next Old Blues Day; plans include Old Blue vs. Blue cricket and tennis matches, a Fives tournament, art workshops, activities for kids and the launch of the new Old Blue reading group, not to mention an appearance from Old Blue and celebrated composer Charles Hazlewood and a moving Evensong service in chapel to finish the day. Keep checking the website for further details of the event, and you will receive your order form for tickets with the next issue of the Old Blue. If you have any further suggestions for Old Blues Day, or if you want to volunteer to help or support the event through sponsorship, please contact the CHA Office.

School Events: Bluecoats Concert
The Bluecoats Concert will take on Monday 5th February 2007 at 7.30pm at the magnificent St John’s, Smith Square concert hall in London. The School’s most accomplished pupils will perform a showcase concert featuring jazz, brass, wind, vocal and string ensembles interspersed with some exceptional solo items. Tickets £12 (£8 conc.) Available from St John’s Office, tel. 0207 222 1061 or http://www.sjss.org.uk
