Yup, I think that's it J.R.

However, we do have a ‘Business Package’ with 1&1, so these error messages could've been a result of heavy traffic AND server problems with them!

Seeing how much gets posted nowadays, I’m glad the forum isn’t being run from a computer in Julian’s house – you probably would’ve caused it to burst into flames!

Simon's right - we shouldn't experience issues like this really, but every hosting company will have performance issues/failures at some point, so let's hope it doesn't repeat for a bit....

Thanks for the info,

I can't believe that compared to some boards that we are having issues with traffic to be honest...

I don't think it'll be traffic just on this forum - it'll be overall traffic probably on their servers.

We'll keep an eye on it and see if it gets significantly worse.

The database has now exceeded 30Meg, so each query will take longer on mySQL....might have to consider a clearout of old junk at some point.........

Is it one of the 'blow-up' variety, Scone ?

Friend of ours bought one recently. It was of a Muslim lady. Saved loads of time, coz it blew itself up !

I have said before that Brunei was quite surreal at times. Once when I was getting money out of the hole in the wall, and muttered that it was slow - it answered back!!! A disembodied voice said 'I'm just filling it, won't be long now!' Eerie!!!

Why oh why aren't there any video cameras around when something like that happens. Nice story Katharine.
