Actually, we did the persuading a "little old lady" that it was one of our dads' birthdays and he really wanted a bottle of vodka but we were too young to but it. Worked every time, apart from once when someone's matron spotted the distinctive uniform...

That is why they went bust about 2 years ago, no-one wears them anymore.
