February 2006 Old Blue
No comment from me.
I just wait for all of your thoughts about how we can improve for the future.
There are lots of minor glitches, so I will be happy to receive offers of help to read through sections, once in the penultimate version, to ensure that major howlers are eliminated.

I think we are talking 'Old Blue' here, don't confuse the issue.
Mine arrived this morning.
Sad, two of my contemporaries, one of whom I knew very well have died.
The Hertford bods have made a good showing.
A good balance I think.

From another threadGreat Plum wrote:Hmmm,
what are the sections?
Sections are the following
CHA News
Carol Concert
Founder's Day
Reunions OB meetings around the world
Working News about OB's and their jobs, one girl and two boys
Creative. Poetry, book reviews, article on girl singer and boy photographer
Sport Sailing, Five and Golf. No netball I'm afraid
Young Old Blues with news on OB's who left after 1990
Updates What people are up to separated by decade they left CH.
Memories Big article on Ward 8, letters and things about what it was like at CH
Remembering Obituaries and memories of friends now gone, 11 girls 20 odd boys
Fundraising OB's either looking for money for unusual activities or raising money for charity.
Cordon Bleu.
Sorry, I get confused where I have written things.

I thought it was a job well done - no mean feat, and you pulled it off almost single handed. Many congratulations.jhopgood wrote:No comment from me.

I had a further discussion with Sarah on Thursday about the issue of when to use capitals. Apparently, the instructions to "correct" came "from someone higher up"!!! I understand however, that my good friend David Miller is in agreement with me that "School" should be spelled with a capital "S" only when it is being used as a name, as in "Come on, School!" (there are lesser institutions which use this expression on the touchline where we would substitute "Housie"); when it is being used in the ordinary sense of the word as in "It is a good school", however, I believe it is inappropriate to place a capital letter at the beginning of the word.

Received my copy of The Old Blue this morning.
I haven't read everything thoroughly yet, but I think it's really well done.
As Englishangel said, a good balance has been achieved. Once everyone's had a good look at the first edition, I'm sure that many more contributions will be offered for the next edition, so John's going to have his work cut out next time around.
Nice feature on famous ex-tuba player Nick Collingwood, by the way!

Mine arrived this morning, looking very good. I have not had time to read it properly but note that my brother must have sent in the obituary of our aunt, Helen Hills.
I urge you to read this obituary again of a true servant of the house. She took out S African citizenship just to vote against the apartheid government, I have often wondered what she put if there was a question 'Why do you want to become a S African?'. She had to retire early as the only native language she spoke was Zulu, and there were no mission hospitals left with white matrons where she could be Sister Tutor.
To the end of her life she had no real feeling for money and was economising as much as she could, having lived in areas of true deprivation she hated seeing waste.
