The house was in the ground floor of the Sicker and was in the two 'wards' there - 'converted' of course...

The Prep Block is still being used as a 'decant' block...

I think it may just be known as 'Hert'...

The girls from Hertford house have their laundry marked with the abbreviation 'HERT'. It was perhaps more of a real house than the grecian houses as although it's members ate/marched/did duty/played sport with their respective avenue houses they were issued with a Hertford house number. Although the house is no more, residents from last year are still labeled with their 'HERT' number.

Don't ask why I know so much about it...

In answer to the question on the Hertford houses transferring to Horsham, 4's definitely went to Col B as I remember them - the 1st years from Hertford were Grecians on my squits. Boy were they scary.

And on Old Blues day lots of 4's people visited Col B - I think the old monitors boards are still up in Col B corridor.

Not all 4's went to Col - some went to BaA. They seemed to split each house from Hertford into 2 and put them in 2 different houses at Horsham. I was in 2's and got put into BaB along with 3 others from 2's - the rest of 2's from my year went to Col. The rest of the GE (as we were when we moved) in BaB was made up of 5's. Confused? :? I am

Mr Elvin spends an inordinate amount of time performing the task of a middle lady...voluntarily might I add.

Yes, the lovely ladies, Mr Elvin, who sort, fold and distribute our school uniform, sheets and towels.

Don't you mean matron? And why do they have to be female? I know it's rare but it's not unheard of for a male to fold socks. Your Mr Elvin is, I would suggest, a potential example, although I'd need to see proof of this.

And why middle?

Why 'middle' I know not...And yes Matron does have a hand in things, although generally there is a 'Head' of the middle ladies who knows everything works.

We're not sure about Mr. Elvin in many ways...
