I have the original issue, purchased from John Lewis in London, which must be the one you refer too. Knitted with the double gold stripes at either end.

I seem to recall another one which was something to do with the Rugby XV. Is that what you are after ?
There were 2 types, John.

I think the version with the stripes running the length of the scarf arrived at C.H. more or less when I did.

The majority of older boys seemed to have the one with 2 stripes at both ends. I preferred this design (the other one would never stay around your neck) and got my gran to knit one for me.

Don't know what happened to it, though.

I bumped into an OG (mentioned elsewhere I believe) with the college type scarf round her neck and said "I went to school there" and she recognised me.

I agree that the older style scarf was more warm, more comfortable and looked lovely when moth eaten and full of holes

Surely the 'antique christ's hospital sussex' engraving being sold by horshambs(bookshop?) is Newgate Street not Horsham.

Pedantry at its worst

You are quite correct. As to pedantry, you are only a true pedant if you insist on referring to Which Tyler's Revolt.

One the that really gets to me is the company which makes chocolate 'Green and Black's'.

There is also a hairdresser in the village 'Paul and Draga's'

It drives me nuts.

An English teacher colleague of mine was teaching the use of apostrophes when one girl went very pale. Her father (?grandfather?) had opened a bookshop in Wimbledon and during the lesson Rebecca realised that the apostrophe was in the wrong place. My colleague, a young teacher, wasn't sure what to say next.

I try not to be too pedantic on here as we are all typing fast and it's easy to make mistakes but a national company!!!!!

for what it's worth, seeing as was asked a while back in the thread, I already had a knitted scarf with 2 gold stripes across each end and tassles, and I was looking for the collegy one with two stripes down the length.

I made a private arrangement by PM and obtained one. to my surprise it also has an embroidered crest.

I don't think Plum's relations could knit this sort because it's woven.

and it's all down to the forum that I got it. so thanks all involved.

I might wear it to the carol concert if i think i won't look like a prat.
