Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

NONE of us from 1975 until the day they merged wore grey socks! We wore FAWN (light brown) socks, as juniors and American tan tights as Seniors, to make senior girls wear GREY SOCKS WOULD HAVE BEEN HUMILIATING!
Here I go again---"When I were a girl----" we wore white ankle socks in the summer and Fawn STOCKINGS (with a suspender belt) in winter. As they were made from cotton (although the stockings were fully-fashioned so at least had some shape) they wore out quickly, so you soon learnt to do a decent darn, or you ended up with a blistered foot. Make the best of what you have now!

Am making best of... Just would like to stay in tights really... Although sounds like we shouldn't complain too much even if the girls did go into yellow socks..!

The talk about the bikes reminds me of gathering the coat into your broadie so you could ride the bike!

The coat still does get tucked in... slightly harder (or more embarrasing) to tuck your skirt in too!!! Hence getting stuck...

Why should we have to walk due to the impracticalities of out uniform!!!

I have to say I thought breeches were alot better than skirts, as for my first house play I had to wear a pair and they were quite comfortable.

I walked (most of the time!) and see what a normal, well adjusted adult I have become...

So did I after I realised that seeing how close new south block was to to Grecians West and therefore riding a bike would be more of a hassle. But thats not the point if girls wish to exercise their right to ride a bike they should be able to without hinderance.

I thought Mrs Bloomer had dealt with this at the end of the 19th century
