BAND AT LORD MAYOR'S SHOW!

Post by Momto2 »

Good old BBC managed to film right up until the carriage before the band and then went off to interview someone, missing the band marching past completely :x

Still, I'm sure despite the awful weather they all had a great time! Will get a report from son & daughter later. Would love to know if anyone was there taking photos/video.

Yes I was quite annoyed as I could hear the band playing over the commentary but we didn`t get to see them! They sounded good though!
If only that woman didn`t like horses... and men in uniform!!

I was there, right at the end of the procession, and yes they did sound good but the poor things looked very wet and fed up.

I must admit DD said the music was a soggy mess and the rain really didn't do her clarinet any favours!

I bet quite a few drum skins were ruined...

and the smell of wet housey coats must have been fun on the coach back...

I was working unfortunately. But my spy (i.e my mother) told me it was excellent!

It must be a jolly long time since drum skins were made from donkey hide and couldn't stand rain!

Also I rather doubt that commentator really cares about men in uniform.

As I recall, if it was raining for lunch parade, the bad would be cancelled just because of the drum skins.

Absolutely correct, and being the elderly member of the local village band and still doing band parades, apart from the drums, the woodwind have to be kept out of the rain.
Nothing worse than a swollen woodwind sound.
