I've got one already! I see the seller comes from Conwy Valley which is in this neck of the woods, I wonder whether it is an OB?

I've got two of the originals - this is a commemorative plate made in 1985. I did not know that such were made/sold!

Mine is the commemorative one, I think my brother gave it to me for Christmas that year, my niece was in the school then, so they would have had access to them.
Were the originals of these plates used at Horsham as well as Hertford?

I think we've had this discussion and I don't think any of our Horsham forumites could remember using patterned china.

I also have one of these. We were all given them in 1985.

Re: Bargain on eBay?
Do you know if these were given to only to ex Hertford girls, or to both girls and boys at the newly reunited school in Horsham, Vonny? I can't imagine these plates were much of interest to Horsham boys prior to the merger, but you never know!

I'm sorry but I don't remember who the plates were given to. I assume they were given to all the girls but I really don't know if the boys got them as well.

Re: Bargain on eBay?
As they are dated AFTER the merger I would have thought they were given to all pupils at the school, and commemorative, not in general use. Not the sort of thing boys arre interested in, I bet if you asked their Mums they would remember.

Re: Bargain on eBay?
Question is, who bought it? Under eBay's new secrecy rules you can't identify the bidders let alone the buyer. But looking at the winning bidder's profile I would say there's a strong chance that they are an Old Blue - probably of the generation which preceded the merger. Only a gut feeling...
If they are a member of the Forum, perhaps they will declare themselves?!
And if, as Maria thinks, there may be a name or certificate or label for the original owner, I wonder who that was?
I bet there will be a few more of these on eBay in years to come. Are they more or less authentic/valuable than the originals which we used at Hertford?

If you click on the buyer's username ('samphiretansy') it takes you to another screen, where you can 'contact member'. You could send a message asking if they are an OB, or what their connection with CH is.

I did, I just sent the link at the top of this thread and said I thought it might be if interest and "no reply expected or required"
