Please can you tell people about the National youth Brass Band of Great Britain. A member of current LE is playing in concerts in royal northern college of music in Manchester on 22nd April and the Dolphin centre in Darlington on 23rd April at the conclusion of the Easter course which this year is taking place in Harrogate Ladies College.Philip Cobb is the soloist (principal trumpeter of the LSO) and having heard him play last week (trumpet piccolo trumpet and flugel horn) at the Barbican in Anna Meredith's world premiere Floor Punch I am really looking forward to hearing him play again. Auditions for the band will again take place in June and details can be obtained from Philip Biggs. You are required to play scales and perform a piece and most brass instruments and percussion qualify.
The National Children's Orchestra are doing a concert in Bristol Colston Hall on 17th April and I would encourage anyone nearby to go. Tickets for children are only £4 and it represents a good opportunity for them genuinely to be inspired.
