Even more sad news

Post by HowardH »

I am sorry to pass on the news that John Hansford, former Head Master (1985-6) passed away yesterday evening.
He will be fondly remembered for his dignity in managing the transition of the girls from Hertford.

Sad news indeed. He was himself an Old Blue (Coleridge B 1931-40) and later a Governor.

Though John Hansford was head for a short time, he had been brought out of retirement to oversee the merging of the schools after what had been a period of friction. He had previously served as head of King Edward School Witley for 11 years. I imagine that it is because King Edward School had the same crest as CH it appears in duplicate in the top right hand corner of the picture in the dining hall. Also in the picture is a picture of a boy in housey dress to signify him as an OB and on the table in front is an open bible showing his strong Christian commitment.
