Eddie Goncalves (Gonk)

Eddie was one of the first Housey Boys I ever met... we wrote to each other for a while when I was at Hertford and he was at Horsham and discovered that we lived not too far from each other in SW London. We have remained firm (if distant) friends ever since.

I am including here the link to his current blog (with his permission) and asking you all to send prayers, positive vibes or whatever healing energies you know of to him and his family. One of his twin boys is suffering kidney failure and in less than 2 weeks, Eddie is donating one of own kidneys.

He has changed the names in the blog to protect his boys.

If you tweet, he can also be contacted at @kidneedskidney

Just had a emotional time reading the blog, in chronological order - what a roller coaster they've been through. I hope and pray that all will be well from now on.

All is not quite right yet. They still have to regain access to their own home by getting the eviction of the so-called tenants who have effectively been squatting rent-free. At the moment the family are technically homeless and living on the goodwill of good friends. I cannot understand the mentality of the tenants who would do this - there has been sufficient publicity in the local media for them to be well aware of the situation. And I cannot help wondering how the other twin is feeling while his brother is getting all this attention.

The court has this morning ruled 100% in favour of Ed's family. The squatters are to be out in 14 days or the bailliffs move in. Also to pay full rent arrears plus costs - a four figure sum. It looks as though the end of that part of the saga is finally in sight.

Unfortunately, it's not all good news... the tenant has refused to leave, despite being offered alternative accommodation by the council. The story was in the local paper and now in the Daily Mail. More positive thoughts, prayers and healing vibes required....

Dreadful!

Has anybody thought about contacting the Benevolent Society of Blues (BSB)?

They may know of somebody who can expedite executing the Court Order to leave the house (the chairman Robert "Wally" Muir is a solicitor I believe) or be able to assist in other ways.

Good news today. Eddie has got his house back. The bailliffs went in today accompanied by a dog (because the tenants had a Staffie), a locksmith, and a gardener, only to find that the tenants had 'done a runner'. The house now needs to be deep cleaned, and the garden completely dug up and resurfaced, because it has been used as a dog's toilet - no good for an immune-suppressed youngster! The family are hoping to be back in their own home at the weekend. Eddie went back to work yesterday. Now life can begin to get back to something approaching normal. Many thanks for all those who have supported this family, in whatever way. (There is still the matter of about £4000 of rent arrears to be recouped!)

Things are really looking up... Ed is back at work, the family have moved back into their home, the blog has been followed all over the world with nearly 10,000 visitors in just 6 months AND Luis has been speaking at the House of Commons!

Have a look at the blog for more information. http://oknak.wordpress.com/

And now he's running for Parliament! Have to say I'd vote for him if he was in my constituency. I very much like his attitude towards MPs as public servants. Good luck to him.
