is (was) quite a highly regarded cricket writer and author. His most well known work, arguably, is a biography of Gilbert Jessop 'The Croucher.'
I am sure I remember reading of a link with CH. Can anyone enlighten me? Was he an Old Blue or Master perhaps?

Re: Gerald Brodribb
The above named was a Junior House Master in Prep, B for one term in the summer of 1941. He had to leave because of a serious illness.
I have a number of his books and read most of the others.
He was a keen cricket statistician and specialised in unusual happenings in first class cricket. Apart from the biography of Gilbert Jessop he wrote one
on Nicholas Wanostrocht. known as Felix, a history of Hastings Cricket ground and an interesting one on six hitting called not surprisingly "Hit for Six"
I met him once at the 50th. Anniversary dinner of The Cricket Society in 1995. He mentioned the reason for his having to leave but I cannot remember
its nature.
