Can I just point out that the leaver's service (this years, at least) has not actually taken place yet?

Agree with Davebythesea about it being solemn - perhaps not so much now with the dropping of the nunc dimittis etc. Also, it may have depended upon the gravity of the headmaster - the late David Newsome was good at solemnity I thought (but many didn't no doubt). I was deeply moved every time.

Do you still get the charge? "I charge you never to forget...." (etc. I've forgotten!).

Afaik, the Charge is still read out.
