My wife is reading a book about the political and social upheavals of the 1970s.
A gripping read, she's just got up to the three-day week.
I clearly remember electricity cuts at home during holidays or half-term in early 1974 due to the three-day week, but I can't remember what the effect of the cuts - if any - there was at CH?
Did the school have back-up electricity generators that cut in when the mains electricity was cut off?
Can anyone enlighten me?

Almost certainly not. There was a major power-cut in the autumn/winter of 1961 or 1962, which affected the whole of south-east England, incl. CH.

I remember the 70s power cuts at CH. Someone's candle burnt right down in their study and there was a fire which the Fire Brigade put out in a jiffy. I think it was in Maine B. Must have been 1970 or 71.

I can't personally remember any power cuts at CH.

I was employed during the infamous 'three day week' and only really remember it as 'rather inconvenient' !!
