Rock School preview

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

Finally saw an episode of the rock school show while visiting my brother in London - What a dingbat Gene Simmons is - and bravo to the CH pupils who weren't sucked into endorsing his lifestyle and pursuit of mammon(and skirt). Wonder what will happen to Dudley and the girl who was chosen as guitarist.Whatever induced CH to go into such a project? How about doing the same thing with someone of some deserved stature?
Now I'm in Sweden visiting my son and kids, and the Swedes have hardly heard of GS. (or CH for that matter.)

Helen:-

You must remember that GS qualified as a teacher before enbarking on a rock career !

I can't help but wonder what CH's view would have been if Gary Glitter had wanted to do the programme !!

But I understand the Swedes have bought Rock School and will be showing it on national TV. So they, too, will be educated on both counts.

Found at Blabbermouth.net

"KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons was photographed at the Rex Cinema and Bar in London, England on September 30 for the "Gene Simmons' Rock School" TV launch party. Check out pictures from Wire Image.

As previously reported, Britain's Channel 4 recently gave the go-ahead to a second series of "Gene Simmons' Rock School".

The show, which follows Simmons as he tutors teens in the ways of rock and roll, began in the U.K. on Sept. 30 with a respectable 2.1 million viewers.

Production on the series' second season reportedly began last week in Kirkley High School in Lowestoft, Suffolk. As well as taking on a mix of students aged 14 and 15, Simmons will also be required to live in a nearby stately home. "

Yes, that's true.

A bit of lazy journalism from both the W.S.C.T. and their source.

My son downloaded all the episodes and we have now looked at a couple more -curiosity made me fit them in . . .I might catch the others later at home when I get back from Morocco(next stop) but might not, since my curiosity is waning and the episodes are increasingly objectionable. I'm glad I don't have a child taking part.
I'm told KISS is no big deal as a band but has marketted itself well and GS is carrying on milking a name that is really without any real substance behind it. I cannot see what the school took on this project for. And is now going to do a sequel? If I were a governor I would withdraw any funds that financed such rubbish, despite the head's lofty statements about the rich experience etc. And including a scene showing jaded maestro Simmons indulging himself at strip club? ? What rich experience and opportunity is that supposed to encourage?
I'd like to know if anyone out there really thinks this is something CH should be doing, despite Nicholas Parsons having lost the debate.

Rock school

Post by englishangel »

2 threads are very hard to keep up with.

I always thought that a CH education was supposed to broaden the mind.

How can you know what to reject if you have no experience?

the second series is already underway at a school in Lowestoft.
