DID ANYONE MEET........................

Post by J.R. »

..........A guy called Tim Staples at Housey ??

He arrived as a pupil at Horsham around the mid 60's.

He went on to become a teacher, and was in fact, head of year for BOTH our daughters at their secondary school in Dorking.

Sadly, he died very young.

I guess this was F T Staples (CB 1962-70), who was based in Dorking according to Who's Blue 1997. Don't recall him personally, though I remember the name.

Sad news though. His death was never reported in The Blue as far as I can establish.

The name does ring a bell. Quiet a loud one.
Is he in any of the photos that Ray Day put up.
I just can't put a face to the name.

I didn't expect any response to my original question.

I don't have any house photo's of Tim, but as he was Head of Year at (what was then), Sondes Place School, Dorking, to both our daughters, I'll borrow their school year books and see if I can find a photo in one of them and scan it.

(memo to John:- 'Talk to daughters at weekend'.)

Jeremy Staples was a contemporary of ours. Tim may have been an older brother?

I can't remember Tim ever mentioning a brother to me.

Incidently, we attended 'The Retreat' together, the year before he died.

I'm sure any Bax Castle regulars, (un-officially, of course), during his latter years would have met him. He was a dedicated real-ale man, and a pipe smoker, though I doubt during his CH years.

UPDATE !

Spent yesterday afternoon with daughters and Grand-Kids at Dorkings brilliant victory against Christchurch in the FA Vase.

However............... I now have in my possession, three Sondes Place School year-books, with photo's of the late Tim Staples, including one of him in Housey uniform.

Here are the links:

Ring any bells with anyone ?
