Would you rather go to CH then or now?

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

If you could pick a time, would you attend CH when you did or would you rather go now? Please discount modern day comforts, softer beds, tv's etc.

Then - or even a hundred years earlier! It's too much like home and I love travelling (whether in time or space) to gain new experiences.

Definitely now. How nice to quote the Human Rights Act to get a bit of privacy

I agree with Dave on this one.

Putting soft beds and tele's aside, at least Housey had a good sense of discipline and smartness in the late 50's and early 60's. Something I found lacking there in recent years.

Does this prove that the girls had it harder?

Hardly a representative sample I know but home comforts had absolutely nothing to do with my reply. It was all to do with general attitude.

I speak as one who was popular with both fellow students and staff. So heaven knows what it was like for those who weren't popular.

My secret of getting through with no trouble was to follow the 11th commandment.

I'd go for the time I was there...

I was there in the 90's when the school went through a rapid period of change - we had all the facilities, the girls and the freedom we wanted without the mollycuddling of the school today...

why?

And here you are again. What do you do with this info? I have asked on a pm with no reply. You aren't part of the school, you're not an OB. So what's up doc? Are you doing some sort of sociology or psychology investigation?

Hello Helen, it seems as if you may have been away from the forum for a while!

In case you haven't managed to catch up with all the posts, the story so far is that Shoz saw 'Rock School' on TV, and this seems to have provoked an intense and somewhat irrational obsession with all things which are related to C.H.

This seems to include the need to obtain as much detail about the day-to-day life of the school as possible. I think that he's compiling some sort of scrapbook using info gleaned from the various C.H.-related websites and stuff he prints out from this forum.

Whether this behaviour is symptomatic of the mentality of an obsessive collector (another of his 'hobbies' is searching the internet for information about Apollo 13), or whether there's a bit of 'Walter Mitty' going on, who can possibly say?

If there are any psychologists reading all his stuff perhaps we might ask them to offer a few suggestions!

But why write a book about a place you know nothing of...

I don't see any problem here.

Many people have a fascination in a subject they have no direct connection with.

We aren't a 'freemason' type forum, thank God. I wouldn't roll me trouser-leg up and wear a pinny for anyone ! A long blue coat and knee length yellow socks was bad enough !!
