Where exactly did this term originate from?

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

Fotcher F*nn*y of Mid A was a past master of the fotch. He abused his position as monitor in order to terrorise us kids - even beating some with a plaited girdle. On moving up from the Prep, my first house captain was Peter Robinson whom we all greatly admired. Meeting him recently in the Dining Hall on the last Mid A reunion, Fotcher F*nn*y was discussed and, as I understand it from that fairly recent conversation, some summary justice was eventually handed out behind the bicycle sheds and F*nn*y's fotchings declined thereafter.

Too late to reply?

In response to Mrs C, we were asked what flab was, but not kiff.

I don't know why people thought they would drug the tea with bromide/marijuana though - what would be the point?
(Other than dispatching of a few hundred disliked teenagers of course...)

Bromide was supposed to reduce sexual desire so would not dispatch any one, except the next generation I suppose.

Old soldiers reckoned it was put in their tea, but I read a short while ago that the reduction in libido was purely from general tiredness.

Perhaps kiff because the tea leaves looked like marijuana, whatever that looks like?

Well, you've all done 'kiff' and 'flab' to death, and not a mention of CRUG !

There was a small book circulating in Coleridge B recently, (I think it belonged to one of the girls), which was the 'official' Housey slang-book.

There were quite a few expressions in there which had probably disappeared before my time. I think most of them originated in London.

Haha, I've seen that book. Most of the phrases are from Greyfriars though.

Still, I have no idea why they would want to reduce sexual desire - seeing as it was an all boys school, and homosexuality would probably have been social and religious suicide at the time. Actually, no wonder they put it in.

Our slang is primarily that of 'modern' London. Often it is the East End that many words can be sourced from. However, there is one that is homegrown - and pretty recent!

Anyone know of a xx xx (removed - JT)?

Haha, yes, I know OF xx xx (removed - JT). I don't know her, but surprisingly, I was only told about her a couple of days ago. How long ago was she from CH?

Just a reminder:-
Users are asked to refrain from any defamation to an individual, including anything which could be deemed to undermine the ethos of Christs Hospital, or anything that attacks the reputation of an individual or CH in general.
I don't know what this is about - but just bear the above in mind - thanks!

I've never heard about this, but it's becoming more and more interesting.
