How to post pictures
A guide from "harsha"

I find that in every forum I go to there are always new people who aren't sure how to get pictures as part of their message. You should have a mini tutorial somewhere. Simply:

- register at http://www.photobucket.com
- click browse and find your picture on your harddrive
- click upload
- copy the link underneath the photo the link should look like [img]http://www.photobucket.com/name/blah.jpg[/img]
- paste that into your message, and the image will appear.

If you want an image for your signature or avatar, then you simply copy the link without the [img] tags. Pretty sure that's how you do it.

Alternatively, if this all sounds too complicated, email me the photos and I'll send you back some text to insert in your post that will show them on the forum.....easy as that!

For those (un)lucky enough to have Windows XP, there is a rather nifty Windows XP PowerToy for free download here:-
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down ... rtoys.mspx
called the Image Resizer
Once installed, adds a right-click menu option when you right-click over an image, allowing you to resize an image quickly to standard desktop sizes, or a customer size. I use it a lot, as you can do multiple pictures in one go, either creating new files, or resizing the originals...

Julian,
What is the recommended size (in Kb and W x H pixels) for posting photograps to this Forum?
Say, for a House photograph, without using thumbnails.
JK

Edit:
Would 'less than 200Kb@800x600 be OK?'

What can I do when Photobucket won't accept my registration?

I've tried and tried - I need to post some photos to some American friends. Perhaps I am notorious in cyberspace for my incompetency. Is there any other way I can do it?

I have managed to transfer said pix to "My Photographs" with some plug in thingy, and that's as far as I get. I need to attach pix to an email, but pix are too big and unshrinkable. The American friends post mini-photos called "thumbnails".

I'm not even thinking of managing an avatar yet, but maybe... one day...?

And there is no small child available for me to ask. Help - please?

This is probably the blind leading the blind!

You say you've got the photos in "your pictures" on your computer. If that is right then just attach / insert (hotmail term) them individually to your e mail as you would any other file or document. The recipent can then view and save the photos at their end. I've successfully e mailed quite a few photos by the method I've described so it does work.

That way you don't need photobucket which I'm afraid is a closed book to me anyway!

You might need to send a number of e mails individually if doing it in one hit makes it too big.

Thank you, thank you dear Andy. I will try.

I did ask how my American friends posted their pictures. Mostly, they replied, it was done for them by a helpful "pre-schooler".

Hi Munch

There is a plethora of sites (free) to which you can upload photographs for all to see.

We set up fotothing accounts when Jess was in Canada so that she could see that I was keeping the furries inline and I, and her friends, could see what she was up to. I can't remember precisely what I did, but do remember that it wasn't difficult. I have only used Photobucket to upload images to the forum - each time I try to upload incorrectly sized images and it takes me forever to work out.

Good luck :D
