Oh yes, Sprim at matrons for cleaning coats, until they banned it in about 1995 because it was dangerous (contained ammonia (?sp)) and we had to use spray-on carpet cleaner instead - didn't work half as wellJ.R. wrote:SPRIM (?): For cleaning unmentionable stains from housey coats !
And wet housey coats... at St Matt's Day this year it was pouring with rain and I got close enough to the band (taking photos) to be able to smell it... really took me back!

What happens if a politician drowns in a river? That is pollution.

After Rip Kirby's lab and the tripe incident - I lost my sense of smell before I left CH - I wonder if it was nature's way of protecting me from the effects.
Darwin and all that .....

The smell of wood polish when I first went in to Barnes B on my first day still lingers with me to this day.
Other smells that I remember are deep heat, wet clothes from housey coats to socks to rugby kit, dining room (OH NO NOT SPONGE AGAIN), burnt toast, the science block that just smelt of chemicals.
Most of all the smell of the theatre. Things like 'size' and the paint used in scenery gets me all the time now I work in the arts. One smell and I'm backstage waiting to move some mad piece of wheeled scenery
