Mark Sutcliffe, now thats a name I haven't heard for years. We started at CH in the 3rd form together. He was great at getting in trouble. Didn't he get expelled in the end?
I had phalik Matthews too, oh those cigarettes and the bunsen burner. I will never forget the day he nearly blew the lab up by sticking the wrong chemical into the flame.

The was a teacher who had the lab in the science block accessed via the outer stairs next to the old school library and the science quad. I was in that lab when the teacher dropped a bottle of mercury. Three of us came down sick within 24 hours.

There was loads of speculation we would die as a result of the mercury poisoning. It was two days before my second leave day. I was then discovered on leave day that we all had tonsilitis.

I once used an electric drill + attachment to scour the paint of a blue asbestos gutter all around a house

It was about 25 yrs ago and I remember breathing CLOUDS of the dust in

When I think about it I start to cough

Otherwise no cough

Remember

NO, but (erudite and wise again) you can get MS type symptoms from it, leaking from your fillings. It is a nerve poison.

I had a (Brit) friend in the USwho was diagnosed with MS although she fell outside the usual demographic. She bought a book on it and it gave mercury poisoning as an alternative diagnosis, so she had her fillings replaced and recoverd completely.

There are none here in London but on the radio
they say there is a huge number due to the warm
temperature and the rain we've had recently

In London we have more big fat spiders than I have
ever seen before, probably due to the climate as well

Britain doesn't have climate, it has weather.

So true!

Did you hear Desert Island Discs this week?

It was Quentin Blake and one of the records was Flanders & Swann singing "A Song of the Weather" which is all about the wonderful English "climate"
