An interesting piece of trivia here for you John.
Jimmy Savile (born 1926), British DJ and television personality, best known for his BBC television show Jim'll Fix It where he made the wishes of members of the public (mainly children) come true. In 1947 he was the first ever DJ to use twin turntables for continuous play after he paid a local metal worker to weld two domestic record decks together.

I didn't know that, I thought he lived more this way though I do recall him moving a few years ago.
Dorking, Guidford area and round here are bristling with celebs.
Our closest is Robert Kilroy-Silk about 1/4 mile away. About 6 years ago he bought the house where Dirk Bogarde (and Ozzy Osbourne) once lived.
Leo Sayer lived about 3 doors up from RK-S until he went to Oz 3 years ago.
We also have Mike Oldfield (of Tubular Bells).
Noel Gallagher (Oasis) and Stuart Copeland (Police) had houses in the same lane as Mike Oldfield but they may have sold.
Graham Le Saux lives/lived in Amersham.
Martin Kemp (Spandau Ballet and EastEnders) is close by, I have seen him (or more accurately heard him, he has a very distinctive voice) in the chippy, and David Seaman lives around here somewhere. His daughter goes to the same theatre school as my daughter and I saw him in Waitrose around Christmas time.

Not on the radar so I looked up when I went to CH, September 1959, when it was Craig Douglas - Only Sixteen.
Linked to another thread, I was mistaken for a member of Creedance Clearwater when I was a volunteer in Guatemala, and nearly got stripped of all my clothes as they tried to get souvenirs.
No, they weren't trying to mug me as I have been mugged in Latin America and know the differenece. I was also in a group of other volunteers.
