Ken Livingstone in China

Post by Rory »

As there's no end to the wit and talent of the participants of this forum.....etc.etc.. I wondered if anyone had a good question for Ken Livingston who is in China this week, as I'll be seeing him on Thursday morning.
For starters it was reported here that he drew similarities between the Tiananmen Square issue and the poll tax riots in Trafalgar Square.
I suppose that they both end in "square".....
So - any questions???

What's he doing in China, by the way (presumably at public expense)?

What better way to encourage the Chinese to visit London than to say that we can ruthlessly kill rioters just as well in Britain as they do at home!

Ken's mayoral history is one of controversy, u-turns, frequent jollys (or is that jollies?) to foreign parts on 'fact-finding missions', blatant disregard for others and above all sky-high spending. Who can forget his statement that 'only a complete moron would scrap the routemaster buses'? Then he goes and scraps them 2 years later. The moron.

I find it very odd that Ken should visit China at all !

After all - He's always banging the Human Rights drum, and yet China still use Capital Punishment on average three times a week, AND charge the relatives of the executed, the cost of the ammunition used !

Oh, that's all right then!!!

I suppose they get the money back when the organs of those executed are transplanted into rich westerners.

You could ask Ken what happened to his 'tache....

Here's a gratuitous picture of Clement Atlee with a moustache on his chin :

In today's Shanghai Daily a senior Chinese health official said that reports about unauthorised organ transplants from executed criminals are "untrue"....He added that very few of the organs used in transplants come from death penalty cases.

So - there you have it.

RR - are you suggesting that Ken's tache may have been transplanted onto a death row chinese criminal???

No, but comedy moustaches transplanted onto the offenders might make the executions a little less sombre!

Actually, I was thinking of an old Derek & Clive sketch......

On the death penalty issue, I read in this weekends film reviews that 'Pierrepoint' is due for release this week. Albert P being played by the brilliant Timothy Spall.

Allegedly, a biopic of his employment, but as I read it, historically incorrect !
