Why is there not a 'don't care' option in the poll! ;)

Why is there not a question mark at the end of your sentence?

It would be a nice option, though!

Might you get a bit excited about the World Cup? We've bought a shower curtain with a world map on it so we can correctly identify the odd little places that turn up like the Marmalized Islands or the People's Conglomerate of Uzkhanbekistanford. Hygienic and educational, that's us!

No, I can't get excited about the spherical form of football...

Luckily I'll be in the Masai Mara at the time of the World Cup! :)

Bassist Steve Harris played for the junior hammers and nearly went pro before, thankfully, founding one of the best bands in history instead.
Which band would that be then?

Shame we could'nt hijack the Cup as well.
We should hold a reunion of OB's originally from SE post codes, which I would be happy to arrange in what I always consider as the Hopgood pub on Plumstead Common, "The Who'd Have Thought It". Founded by an ancestor when my forebears moved from the Maidstone area to Plumstead at the beginning of the 19th century.

Resurrecting an ancient thread BUT, John, this might be of interest if you have not already seen it.

Thanks

Hadn't seen it in that detail. I am directly descended from Robert Hopgood. His father came from Boughton Monchelsea, near Maidstone, and I think they moved to Plumstaed as either Market Gardeners or to work in the Brick industry. Labourers anyway.
The story is that Eliza sold beer for the workers on their way down to the fields.
Explains my liking for the nectar.
Will pass it on to my brother (RSH, Bab/MidA)
