well no offence but why ask if he worked for Rover then??? If you knew it was the Rover factory? Or am I missing something?

I didn't work for Rover, I worked for a Rover supplier and many a time I used to walk down the production line with the line manager discussing supply issues whilst I saw how to make a car badly. If they had listened to BMW, they could have saved Longbridge, now 3000 jobs have gone.

I was watching the discussions from the sidelines, BMW bought Rover for the Oxford production line and not Longbridge bt they were prepared to give it a go. The workforce wouldn't listen to anything Rover had to say even when it made sense. There was an attitude at the plant that they had seen Honda off so they could see BMW off. When BMW sold Longbridge, thye suddenly implimented most of what BMW had tried to put in place but it was too late. I was always amazed by the lines of cars they kept building even when there were not the orders for anything like the numbers built. Rover was a sad example of the workforce thinking that management had nothing to say and management thinking the workforce was too dumb to more than be led.

and thereby died the whole of the British manufacturing industry.

just not made by British car makers!

Just as long as the Americans don't get a stake in any of the companies like Honda. Everytime they get involved in britsih enterprise, they pull the plug and move it to slovakia or somewhere like that
