Last minute shopping....
Well, today I am going to buy a few consumables for friends in Brazil that are hard or impossible to buy there.
Winegums and Marmite are 2 such items.
Anyone do anything similar when they go visiting abroad?

You can buy Nutella in Tescos!Mrs C. wrote:German friends of mine brought Nutella and instant cappucino with them when they came over last year - of course, you can find neither in British shops.
(They were also quite surprised when told that Kelloggs is a Bitish company)

My Mother arrives Sunday, with the usual staples : Marmite, Oxo cubes, Shippams pastes, crumpets and cheddar , Day & Night Nurse ( nothing as good here ).
There is a british supermarket downtown Barcelona, but they charge gold ingots for most things, so I get Ma to bring them instead.

I don't think I drank instant coffee in the US.
I even ground my own beans. There was a coffee franchise in the supermarket I used. You can buy it in Fortnum and Mason here.
Surely Kellogs is a US ompany.
I don't know what the chocolate in Brazil is like, I imagine it is like dark continental.
If you like Cadburys you will have to take it with you. Hershey chocolate is DISGUSTING. It tastes like that stuff they sell here as cooking chocolate.

Just keep off the wine - it is so badly transported that it is normally undrinkable.
Brahma Chopp used to be my staple though Extra (from some nordeste brewer) is very good.
For your caipiringha use 51 (though IMHO you should pound only half of the limes and leave the other half in chunks). If things really get on top of you try a pinga (51 again) with a beer chaser. That combination saved me from a nervous breakdown on one occasion - a nasty memory.
Coffee; they export the best, or so they claim. Nescafe instant used to be freely available. Try to find someone who can make Cha de Mate for you; you will have so many cafezinhos that you will get the shakes - cha de mate gets all the caffeine out of you. My secretary used to dose me - I know it is a common weed but exactly what I don't know.
Oranges; local supermarket used to have about 20 different varieties; some are bitter, some not too good for the tummy - Laranga Lima is not only safe but adequately sweet (if a bit small)
Have a good flight and enjoy the panteras
I'm jealous
