My wife has a Lancashire accent like her mum - whose sisters Judith refers to as her ants.

I know what you mean Dave, living in East Lancashire, they all say that.
I spent the first 6 months up here saying pardon?
Just to add to the fun, there are some Burnley expressions that leave other Lancastrians non-plussed

It gets worse! When talking to our own children, Judith often confuses the boys by referring to her own sisters (she has four) as e.g. "You're anti-Debbie!", which they of course, being well brought up, hotly deny

I can see the scene now!
When I first moved up here, Ann's kids kept coming up to me saying "am ee allowed art"
This left me thinking I had moved to France or something, Ann translated for me, it meant " am I allowed out"

"Eat the occasional chips...." you old rebel.
had a few words with the quack today; at least he is relaxed on cholesterol - "don't worry about it, eat a bit less fat and drink a bit more wine and you'll be OK" (My reading is nearly 50% above the new recommended limit - no doubt GB wants me to die of worry so he can charge inheritance tax - and I'll be d*****d if I will, thank you.

(A few more irrelevancies and I'll hit the 500 mark without going into the Mallett).
