BBC - Going off the rails?????

Post by Jude »

I have just watched the tiniest bit of the Last Night of the Proms and am having to admit that all this "global" TV is driving me insane..... The TV was telling me that Danny Boy was being sung in Belfast - even when I went to the Proms place (momentary forgetfulness creeping in again) where upon I had the Roal Albert Hall on screen, showing the Singers in Belfast on screen..... What happened to the performance all being in the R.A.H.?? Is the BBC cutting costs? or is it that everyone wants to show off?
I like to watch and hear the Proms from the RAH and ONLY from the RAH and no where else - I don't want to see whatt he foloks in Hyde Park are doing, as if my back hadn't gone I would have been there seeing it for myself.... and I so do not like having to listen to a dirge (sorry but it was) and the monotonous speech of the conductor - and why was he not wearing a penguin suit??? It befits conductors of the Last Night to DRESS PROPERLY!

I can only vote No; the BBC went off the rails / to the dogs many years back when they abolished penguin suits for news presenters (males only of course) after 6 pm, even on radio.

well it's not likely that we are going to see the presenter on radio if we are listening to a radio - however with these web cams everywhere I think a return to the corect dress should be observed..... And I lkie my conductors in penguin suits.... what this guy had on looked like a mix of a doctors coat and a turtle neck..... no doubt horrendously expensive but it looked horrible.

What IS this unhealthy obsession with Fiona Bruce?????????????

As I hadn't a clue who you lot were going on about - I looked her up on Yahoo / Images. She's seems to be about 50% Lady Di and 50% Bree from Desperate Housewives.

You must lead a very sheltered life in Shanghai, Rory !

we saw plenty, perhaps too much of Hilary Clinton ...... (you missed out the non-sexual bj or does that come under "weird stuff"?) And then of course there was that White House staffer (or staffess)

Oy - back to the subject please -

BBC - seems a lot of repeats again.... fells like Christmas viewing

AND Purleeeeeease - why the continuous "lets find someone with talent" shows? We have What can you do about Maria on BBC1 - which is pointless voting folks as she is already practicing and rehearsing - no way could an un reheared novice go onto a West End theatre and perform.... THINK

the X factor on ITV1

thank goodness BB has finished on 4

why do we need the pain of these dreadful peolpe performing like dogs at Crufts? Why can't we have The Nature of the Planet back on as a repeat - I missed most of it and would like to record it - some thing that stimulates the little grey cells not wrecks them at point of entry...

The Daily Mail is doing the DVDs if you mean David Attenborough.

and my feeling is that Connie has been going to be Maria from the get-go and is already rehearsing.

.......... and very good value too.

I'm collecting the tokens as I can't get to WH Smith's every day. A fairly cheap postal order and about 14 hours of wonderful natural world footage.

I'm sure the Grand-Kids will love 'em, (as well as me an' Jan !)
