The Dragon at Faygate is my brother's local. Can't say I like it that much. It's always seemed a bit of "a local pub for local people". I prefered the Cherry Tree when I was living in North Horsham

I don't remember the pub the Dragon (sure I went there as a child though) but I have fond memories of the Cherrytree... I think Mr P was probably there too...

I was always too little to care about pubs when we were in Colgate / Faygate... My Great-Grandfather apparently was born there though!

The Dragon (which is in Colgate iirc) (The Holmbush is the pub in Faygate) is meant to be quite good these days but probably that's because I still know some of the Colgate locals...

Watch it Ruthie-Baby !

This could easily escalate into a Surrey/Sussex war.

I've driven past The Cherry Tree on numerous occasions. It looks absolutely gorgeous. The only thing that puts me off is the proximity of the dual-carriageway. I suppose they call it progress.

There's always The Lamb, up at Lambs Green. A bit out of the way up the road I know. I was recently told that it's gone down hill of late !

Ah ha! Now I see a pic of the Dragon, all at once it is vaguely familiar.

Last time I saw it it was covered in bunting and had Broadwoods aplenty outside (and me stealing their beer from their tankards) Mr P would have been about 3 so I'm not sure he was there...

well someone has to challenge you at your own game...

...incidentally, I'm really sorry to Christian, I seem to have been responsible for completely aborting your thread... I do apologise (I was so excited to meet [virtually] someone from Faygate and got carried away)

Hehe, that's fine. The thread did what it was meant to anyway :)

So are you from Faygate too then?

If you two are so up to date on the Faygate area, am I not right in saying that the last woman in the South of England to be executed as a witch was from the Faygate/Lambs Green area ?

I know Horsham was an assize town that heard those sort of 'cases'

oh ok. Please note moderators and other people: he doesn't mind, he said so.

right, back to pubs, no i don't come from Faygate I come from West Grinstead - complete foreigner you might say...

although that might be why i can't hear his Faygate accent, what with my broad WG...

and RR thank you so much for the link, I've just been having another look, you can add your own reviews, hmmm, tempting!!!
