When I went to the bank today there was a notice on the door saying:
Temporary Closure.
This branch will be closed today from 2.00pm to 2.20pm.
The nearest branch is in Pwllheli.
To me, temporary seems far too long for a 20 minute closure, what do you think?
BTW, it would take more than 20 minutes to drive to Pwllheli even on a good day, and as for August .......
What word would you have used?

A local bank branch is closed temporarily whilst they rebuild it which so far seems to have taken since March (at least). I would have thought that the word "temporary" was appropriate for a 20 minute closure.Katharine wrote:When I went to the bank today there was a notice on the door saying:

I suppose they are required under the terms of their banking licence to tell customers where they can get service even if the place is closed for 5 minutes. The regulations are not always sensible. One huge international bank got nearly done because there was a proven 7 SECOND delay in entries getting into their backup computer.
What happens if a politician drowns in a river? That is pollution.
What happens if all of them drown? That is solution!!!
