Bots

Post by Mid A 15 »

Nothing to do with the was Horsham designed to be gay thread!

Just wondering in my ignorance what their function is? Are they a form of malware?

I've seen google, google adsense, yahoo and exa.

There may be more bots out there!

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere.

Bots are "robots" - the programs which the major search engines use to "crawl" the web, looking for websites and changes to websites.
Because the CH Forum is indexed by the main search engines, they visit periodically to check the content and index it so that it'll return in searches on the internet in Google etc..

e.g. searching for "Old Blues Day Christ's Hospital" on Google, you get CH Forum entries returned.

Shame it's not more interesting really!

Angela (Munch) had some wonderful flights of fancy about Googlebot and her relatives here

Has anyone heard from Angela lately? I hope she is busy in the garden and hasn't deserted us.

So if we come across 'Booty-Bot', should we be very concerned ?

Possibly, but no doubt someone will get to the bottom of it.

Lying a bit low at the moment!

Into hospital, surgeon got knife into, complications, still not better.... However, back at home!

Love to everyone!

Hi Munch

Sorry to hear that all did not go as planned, but hope that it will all be worth it once you have completely healed.

I had a brief and unexpected stint in one of Adelaide's finest when I returned from my trip. Really should have paid more attention to the fact that people kept commenting on my tan. 'Tan? What tan? I was in Europe. In Winter. To$$ers.' Sadly, it was a case of me being the To$$er

Much love

xx

Thank you so much for these messages! It's really kind of you all!

The district nurse team are really baffled that I am laughing like mad when I have dressings done. It's because the surgery has a pile of back numbers of Mens' Health magazine. This publication is so so funny!

Caroline! You did look sunkissed... how are you now????

You've been downunder too long, Caroline. That wasn't winter, it was spring, and some of warmest days of the year so far.

I hope you and Munch both feel better soon.

We appear to have another new bot this evening - TurnitinBot. Unless someone is just pretending :D

Thing is, I've heard of Google, Yahoo, MSN etc, but Turnitin?? Ah yes, Google......

Apparently Turnitin is a plagiarism detection service. Well, I've learned something new :)
