Good Evans - he's unstoppable

Post by AKAP »

If you get a chance and come across a copy of "Balance" November-December issue (Diabetes UK Magazine). Check out the letters pages and read about the adventures of a certain Dorset gentleman on his 80th birthday.
Sorry can't find it on the net to let you all read it.

Yes, another old CH friend, who reads the forum, has already asked me whether I thought they were one and the same person. Given all the matching details we decided they definitely were. I haven't read the article but - gosh - well done NtN!

I don't want to steal Neill's thunder but to give you all a clue the letter is accompanied by a picture of a certain Dorset Gentleman diving head first out of an aeroplane at 13,000ft as part of his 80th birthday celebrations (he is wearing a very fetching all over black and red suit, including head gear).

Guilty ! M'lud ! --- this Forum gets everywhere !

It was a bit of a "Con" --- but as it was for Charity -- it was not emphasised that I used to be a Para ! ("Wings" in 1948 !)---although it was my first time from 13000 ft.
Doing it "For real" one likes to be on the ground, ceasing to be a target, as soon as possible.
It was, however, nice to be able to admire the view, and to land "Tippy-toes" as opposed to a "Thump and roll"--- Parachutes are a different shape now !

Diabetes UK suggested for my 81st I went 3 rounds with Henry Cooper --(It's nice to be popular !! ) since we had both held the same Championship in the Army --- separated by some years -- and he was up for it, on the basis of 1 minute Rounds "Exhibition" (None of the Mohammed Ali, dropping Left Hook !!)

This would have raised a lot of money, getting the two Geriatrics (Sorry 'Enery !) in a ring, but the Amateur Boxing Association, have put th Kybosh on Diabetics Boxing.

For my 82nd I did NOTHING. TBA says I should stop pretending !! (But I am plotting !)

Apropos of which, we know that Superman wore tight underpants, outside his trousers ---------

I am here to tell you that any experienced Parachutist, carefully checks his Harness, --- two straps of which, pass between the legs--------

Nowadays, they wear goggles ------ so you can't see the eyes water !!

Enough now, of this nonsense, I am older (By 2 years, and wiser !)

No - it's here we go again indeed. NEILL has arranged more attention for himself via "Balance" the diabetes magazine.

I'm sorry, if this has upset Angela ------- or anybody else.

Has this usurped HER, impending Parachute Jump ?

I didn't start this particular thread, but my letter to "Balance" has won me a £50 Book token.

If anybody doesn't like my posts, ------ there is no compulsion to read them !
