Just for your info............

.................. I have been called into the East Surrey Hospital tomorrow afternoon, (Sunday 26th. February), for a short notice op for removal of one rapidly growing cataract, which will save me having to wait another couple of months !

So I'm not sure how long before I will dare to start using a computer with one eye and one covered, which incidently, will also have to be operated on in a few months.

Therefore, any rumours of my untimely demise will have been greatly exagerated 1

Best of luck JR. My mother had hers done at Moorfields when she was well into her 70s. It should be a doddle for a young man like you! :D

I'm posting after you've had it done so hope all went well.

Like Annie's mother my grandmother went to Moorfields in her seventies in the seventies and her sight was transformed.

I'm sure a few referees will rue your new found vision in the not too distant future

Hope it went well JR. Both my in-laws have had theirs done and found it simple, painless, and made a huge difference to their clarity of sight.

I had both eyes done last year -not too bad (only took 10 mins or so each). Distant vision is now brilliant - better than since I was 10 years old). The only snag is reading - I could see to read without glassses before but now near vision is very poor. It was awkward till I could get new glasses! Good luck!

Went well - Not painful, but weird and slightly unpleasant.

Colour definition now brilliant, but focus slightly out.

Back in 10 days for follow-up.

Good to have you back onboard John. Yes, isn't it weird when something is not quite right but you can't exactly describe what? I am in the process of (a) switching to varifocals after years of bi-focals and (b) exploring the possibility of reverting to contact lenses, and I found it very difficult to explain to the optician exactly what was not working. I suspect it may take a while of experimenting before we get it right.

Welcome back JR ---- sorry to be late, but I also returned from Hospital yesterday, after being investigated for any further developments in my "Nasty little *** "
All seems OK, but I was chastised for having drunk a cup of coffee, a few hours before anaesthetic !! "Water Only " (It might have been Whiskey !)
TBA and I had our cataracts removed years ago -- the results are truly astonishing.
When I had my dressing removed I said "Where is that lovely girl I left in the Waiting Room ?"

TBA growled "I'll do the other one !"

I'm sure we all wish you well, with your "New Eyes"
