In the meantime, Caroline, stop worrying about sending me back the book. Enjoy it (if that's the right word?!) before putting it back in the post for the UK.

Hi Kerren

Thanks for that reassurance :) . I was wondering how much of the book I would be able to read while driving from my letter box to the Post Office  Thanks also to the owners who will make their copies available if required before I return your own.

As you will see from a new thread on the Forum, under 'General CH Stuff', I have posted that DRW passed away at 6.30 this morning.

Is "Half to Remember" still available to buy? I know a few of you are sharing one copy but I was wondering if it can still be bought. Actually, does CH still have a "shop?" A while back I know you could buy books, badges etc but I haven't seen anything advertising merchandise for ages.

I thought that there were no further copies, Vonny, but I know of someone who got a copy YESTERDAY from Wendy Killner, in the CHA Office.
So please do try Wendy, Maybe she has a clandestine supply!

I have just found my contact details for Gaye, and phoned her. She still has my copy of Half to Remember and hopes to find it after Christmas. I told her the news, she may return to the Forum.

Assuming I get it back, is there anyone else out there who would like to read it?

Yes please, I would like to read it. It would only take me a day or so.

My copy is on its way back from Downunder.....so I would be happy to lend it out again if anyone wants to borrow it.
Or if you wanted to buy a copy you MIGHT find that the CHA Office has some. .Much to my surprise, Helen Davis (Rees) obtained a copy from them on Tuesday, to enable her to write the obituary for the local Eastbourne paper. I thought they were 'sold out'!

Well, my email was read the next day but I've not heard a thing since so I take that as a "no we don't have any copies" or a "you aren't getting one."

Hi Vonny... if you want to borrow my copy you are more than welcome. PM me your details (I know I had them before but I am afraid I did not retain them....) and I will lend you my copy by snailmail?

I'm surprised that there has been no obituary in the National Press for a woman who served 30 years in her post.

One might agree with that... but the 30 years did end more than 30 years ago....
At least we who knew her can remember her with pride and affection.

I agree with that - how are these decisions made?

I have just been reading the obituary of John Rae, former headmaster of Westminster School, died on 16 December published today in the Independent. That was written by his former deputy - did that man decide there should be an obituary and send it in or what? As it was so long after the death I assume that it wasn't an obit 'ready for whenever'.

Well I could always send my Eulogy to The Times (which is the paper to which she subscribed to the end)... but why should it be down to me...?
What do others think?
