'Uncle John' (Major)

Post by fra828 »

'Uncle John' was an absolute dream PM compared with this rotten, uncaring lot we've got in now. Never trusted Nick Clegg but very disappointed in David Cameron; I thought he would be more compassionate and not cut frontline services for the vulnerable.

"We're all in this together" was never going to convince those who are more "in it" (i.e. the s**t) than a cabinet full of multi-millionaires. They do care, though, fra828 - they care about the bankers. "Britain must move from retribution to recovery" - G. Osborne, Esq. beneficiary of a multi-million Trust Fund set up by his father as a (legal) tax-avoiding measure, said last Wednesday. I suspect he'd be rather shocked at the real appetite for retribution there is out here in the real world. He'll find out in 4 years' time!

I don't honestly believe the coalition will last the full term !

The big Unions are already flexing their muscles.

I read somewhere that Labour inherited a booming economy in 1997 which is rare to hear for any party, so John Major's government must have got something right! The best PM of modern times in terms of relating to ordinary people and keeping the UK in the pink!

"Uncle John" was a truly sweet kind gentle man.

But with onward and upward ambitions!

Which didn't involve our old school friend.
