Parent representation

Post by KenHo »

From reading a few of the recent posts, I can't help thinking that there might not be a parent-teacher type body at CH. Is this the case?

For example, two parents on another thread seem to be surprised that the O level system has been changed without any consultation. Is there normally some form of consultation? Are there, for example, parent governors to go and speak to when something serious happens?

I am sorry that I am asking lots of questions, but I am new to all this and have no information about this side of things. I suppose I assumed these things existed (and perhaps they do) and expected someone to tell me about them at some point before September.

If they don't exist, then they should.

Mrs C is the lovely lady who works in the tuck shop. She usually knows the answers to most questions asked on this forum. She'll be along soon... :D

I think KenHo was including me in this comment, but actually I didn't say that exactly. What I said was that I was surprised we hadn't had any consultation with the teachers about their opinions on our children's options, for example, if my daughter decided to choose Latin I suspect the teacher would try to talk her out of it, based on previous test results. However, now that I have received my GCSE information in the post I know that there is a scheduled meeting when all the teachers will be present to discuss options :D

Apart from the GCSE issue I haven't had occasion, as yet, to feel the need for a PTA-type organisation. Any queries I have had have been dealt with by the housemistress and I actually feel quite well-informed about the goings-on at CH :D

In most schools both parents and staff are represented on the Governing Body. At the moment this is not the case here (as far as I am aware).

Parents have been told that the revamped website will include a parent chat room.

I think I'll try to lurk in the chat room, I'd like to know what current parents think of the school.
